Hello and welcome to our Sawtelle baby page.  I decided to start this page after Rob and I found out that I was expecting our first baby.  On Sunday, May 13, 2001, Rob talked me into taking a Home Pregnancy Test when I got up.  The test immediately came out positive.  I went back to the bedroom, where Rob had fallen back to sleep and tapped him on the shoulder.  He looked up and I told him to look at the test, he was going to be a dad.  He just sort of looked at it for a moment so I asked him what he wanted to do now.  He said he wanted to get another test, just to make sure. :)  So we got up, showered and headed to the Ralph's Pharmacy to get another test.  We got there at 9:30 and they didn't open until 10:00.  We decided to go across the parking lot to Taco Bell to kill some time. 

At 10:00 we went back to the pharmacy, got the test and came home. I didn't have to use the restroom right away, so I asked Rob to hold off calling anyone until after I took the second test.  He couldn't help it, he called his mom and his grandmother right away.  Well, when I took the second test, the directions said it could take up to 3 minutes for the results to show.  As I walked out of the bathroom, the second line was dark and clear.  We were definately pregnant.

We, at that point started calling our families and letting them know. Rob called some of his friends, although I held off telling my friends for a little while.  I was a little nervous as I know anything can go wrong in the first trimester.

The next day, Monday, May 14, we went to my doctor to have her confirm the pregnancy and to see if she could figure out why I was coughing so much. Well, she said it looked like I had bronchitis.  She gave me some antibiotics and gave me some names of OB/GYNs to call.  She advised me to call immediately as they won't be able to see me for a few weeks and the earlier I got in, the better.  I wasn't able to get ahold of them until the next day, Tuesday.  My first appointment was scheduled for Tuesday, June 19. 

My first appointment is July 17, so I will update as we go along.
